SPECIAL NOTICES / ALERTS

6/15/08 - The state has imposed a ban on through trucks over Avon Mountain on Rt. 44 weighing over 13 tons through July 18, 2008.  This does not effect access to the Marlin Tower site.  This is due to extensive road construction activity on the west side of the mountain.

6/4/08 - Road construction has started on the section of Route 44 from the West Hartford – Avon line, immediately to the west of our entrance, to the Intersection of Route 10 with Route 44 in Avon, a distance of approximately 1.4 miles.
Motorists can expect lane closures at all times, in either direction along this section of Route 44 through the contract completion date of November 29, 2010.
Only one lane of traffic in each direction will be available while construction is proceeding including peak travel hours.
Construction signs and Local Police will be utilized for traffic control. Motorists are advised to reduce their speed accordingly through the work zone

6/1/08 -  Lightning season is upon us and site users are reminded to use common sense when on site when threatening weather is approaching. If you can hear thunder the storm is close enough for you to be hit by lightning.  When a storm is approaching you must stay away from the towers and the equipment and either vacate the site or wait it out in your car . . . experts say that a good place to be during a lightning storm is inside a vehicle.
