Two AM broadcast
stations, WTIC and WCCC AM, are in the immediate vicinity of the Marlin Towers site
and per FCC Regulations all new structures must be detuned to prevent
interference to the AM station's patterns. This is an expensive requirement and
one that must be taken very seriously.
Marlin Tower, LLC (MTL) has designed a state of the art detuning system in
cooperation with the two nearby stations, and we have a very good working
relationship with them. MTL operates and maintains the detuning system at the
site which often dramatically reduces the expense and time required by our
existing and potential users in meeting the stringent FCC requirement. We can
assist in making arrangements for pre and post construction field measurements,
or can recommend a local consultant for you to work with if you need someone to
do the field work.
Additionally, we require is that tenants work with us and follow normal
engineering standards when mounting their antennas on the detuned tower. This
includes such things as bonding all transmission lines to the tower at
twenty-foot intervals and ensuring that appendages to the tower do not interfere
mechanically with our detuning apparatus.
